The AI tool market moves fast. New tools launch every week, pricing changes constantly, and most "reviews" online are just reworded press releases written by people who never opened the product.
We started ToolPilot because we were frustrated by that. Every review we publish is based on real hands-on testing — we use the tools, document what works, what breaks, and what the marketing copy conveniently doesn't mention.
We make money through affiliate commissions when readers sign up for tools we recommend. This never influences our scores. We've given low scores to tools with generous affiliate programs, and high scores to tools that don't have one. Our credibility is the only thing we won't compromise on.
Our promise: If we wouldn't pay for a tool ourselves, we won't give it a top recommendation — regardless of what the affiliate commission is.
How we review AI tools
Every review follows the same 6-step process. No shortcuts.
We pay for the product
We use our own money for every tool we review. No free accounts from vendors, no special reviewer access. Same experience you'd get.
We test it for at least 30 days
No review is published after a single session. We test every tool for at least a month, across multiple use cases.
We benchmark against alternatives
Every tool is compared head-to-head against its closest competitors using identical tasks and prompts.
We score 6 dimensions independently
Writing quality, ease of use, features, value, support, and team features are scored separately — no single inflated "overall" score.
We update reviews regularly
AI tools change fast. We revisit every review at least quarterly and update scores when tools improve or decline.
We disclose everything
Every affiliate relationship is disclosed. Every review notes the testing period and plan tested. No hidden conflicts of interest.
